Here's a list of our past outings and a few words, photos and maps from each. We're hoping to include the findings of the different sites found by our members.
2003-2004 Season 2004-2005 Season Meeting Only, but a lot accomplished. November 13, 2004 (Sugar Rock) Because of possible heavy rains Think It has was not done. Instead Sugar Rock was the popular choice. Dec 11, 2004 (Red Cloud Road) 11 People from Blythe Chapter showed up and 6 from the Colton chapter.... Jan 15, 2005 (Flat Foot) At least 10 people showed to this new dig.... Feb 19 & 20, 2005 (Hauser Beds+) We were filmed by the Outdoor Channel at the Hauser Geode Beds on the 19, and was schedule for a shoot at our new claim, however heavy rains washed out those plans; a few members did show at the dig still. Mar 12, 2005 (Gold Spur#1) About 15-20 people showed up for this dig. It was a new site for many of the members. We had 2 recirculators going, and several metal detectors as well. A few small flakes were found, but for the work we did we had small results. That's how it goes sometimes though.
2005-2006 Season Nov 11, 2005 (Flat Foot) We had been scheduled to go to a claim of a local member, but ran into some last minute problems, thus forcing us to make a last second change to Flat Foot. Dec 10, 2005 (Local Members Claim) (Sorry no maps to this one) About 20 people showed up for this dig on a members private claim. You may have seen it advertised on the web site. Dwayne F. was the first to score a nugget. It was his first nugget with his detector EVER. Few people did any digging, but there were a few persistent ones who found about 5 nuggets for a total weight of about 2.7g Jan 14, 2006 (Opal Hill Mine) The January 14,2006 outing to Opal Hill Mine had a good turnout. About 18 people showed up to dig for fire agates at the mine. We had nine vehicles make the trip, two were cars which did not make it all the way to the mine. The dirt road leading up to the mine is rough and........ Feb. 11, 2006 (Stanton) Many of the usual outing members are also chapter officials and elected to go to Stanton Az. to check out the GPAA claims there. We were also granted a 1 day free outing to the 24 Karat Claim by its owner (Thanks for that!). Many "pounder" nuggets have come from this same hill that we were on, and the good news is we left everyone there for you folks to find when you go there. Suggestions are to go someplace never gone before. If you hike for an hour after any ATV trails, and think you have gone further than 95% of others you're probably right...... but go another 1/2 hour and then set down your detector head for the first time. March 11, 2006 (Flat Foot) The weather was COLD and the wind was blowing hard this day. No one really wanted to have a dig so about 12-15 of us showed up and had a small GPS instructional class there. We had the usual hot Hobo Lunch (Stew) and a small fire to keep warm. Many people learned for the first time how to do more than turn on the unit. We decided that this next year a whole dig day would be spent on a class and a dig. Then after people get familiar with it, we are going to rescue a member (equipped with FRS and Cell service) out from some unknown place in the desert. Our hopes are to get enough proficient members that we can help search and rescue in the future if needed. April 15, 2006 (Local Member Claim) April 15,2006.One of members graciously offered the use of their personal claim to the club outing on Saturday. Approximately 22 people..... May 12, 2006 (meeting Only)
